ASSOCIATED PRESS: The combination of Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles was almost unstoppable for Oklahoma. And while the Sooners’ steely defense couldn’t quite stop Toby Gerhart, yards were hard to come by for the Heisman Trophy runner-up. Broyles set a Sun Bowl record with three touchdown receptions, Jones passed for 418 yards and Oklahoma slowed Gerhart just enough to beat No. 19 Stanford 31-27 on Thursday. “It was a total business trip,” said Jones, who completed 30 of 51 with one interception. “We were coming down here to take care of business. The game plan, the way we prepared, it was really good this week.”

John Davis, Associated Press: Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix doesn’t mince words or give out too many compliments, so when he says a player and a team has ability, he means it. Nix had more than a few positive things to say about Oklahoma State senior quarterback Zac Robinson and the Cowboys’ offense and how his team will have to play well to stop them during the upcoming AT&T

When your team is winning, everything is good. Small issues are brushed aside, minor differences are considered to be ‘unimportant’. Winning cures everything for a team. But losing, or not living up to a team’s expectations, can cause minor problems to develop into major problems. Such may be the case with the current version of the Oklahoma Sooners men’s hoops team.
OKLAHOMA CITY: Long story short,

Former Oklahoma offensive coordinator Chuck Long will return to the Big 12 as the new Kansas offensive coordinator under coach Turner Gill. Long formerly was the head coach at San Diego State, but was released from his coaching duties there in 2008. Gill was named the new Jayhawk head coach this past week after former coach Mark Mangino resigned.
Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix will stay with the Rebels despite being courted by Florida over the past week. “I’m happy to be a Rebel,” he said. Nix, who is currently in the first year of a three-year contract that pays $350,000 annually, will receive a raise according to coach Houston Nutt. The amount of the raise hasn’t been finalized. Nutt said he wasn’t surprised Florida targeted Nix. The position came open after Charlie Strong left the Gators for the head coaching job at Louisville. “It’s a credit to him and how good of a coach he is,” Nutt said. “But he loves the people he’s working with here and that’s key. I’ll be glad when all these jobs (around the country) are filled because they keep coming after him.
