OU’s Willie Warren (avg 17.6 ppg) did not play due to a sprained ankle. The Sooners fall to 11-8 overall, 2-3 in conference and are barely hanging onto the NCAA Tournament bubble at this point in the season.

night. Anderson, the Big 12’s scoring leader, had 16 points during a 29-1 charge in the first half that turned a six-point deficit into a commanding 44-22 lead for the Cowboys (13-2, 1-0 Big 12). Mike Leach under investigation at Tech
Posted in Big 12 on December 29th, 2009 by BSN
Just weeks after Mark Mangino resigned from KU due to reports of mis-treatment of his players, now we receive reports that Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has been suspended from coaching the Alamo Bowl in order for Tech to investigate similar complaints about treatment of football players, specifically one Adam James, son of ESPN/ABC analyst Craig James.
Blowout in Lubbock: Texas Tech 41, OU 13
Posted in Big 12, OU on November 22nd, 2009 by BSN
If you watched the game, you know how bad it was. If you didn’t watch the game, then just know this: OU did not show up to play yesterday and got absolutely drilled by a 6-4 Texas Tech team that lost by 23 to A&M on it’s on home turf. What’s puzzling about this is how the defense played, or, did not play. Coach Stoops and defensive coordinator Brent Venables have *owned* the Red Raiders’ offense over the years and rarely give up a performance like this as Tech QB Taylor Potts (benched earlier in the year!) threw for 338 yards. Then, the Tech running game, which came in ranked 117th in the nation produced 161 yards and three touchdowns. This was the largest margin of victory ever for a Tech team over Oklahoma.
OU Texas Tech Predict from Mr. Mookie
Posted in Big 12, OU on November 21st, 2009 by Mr. MookieWell, the Pokes held up their end of the bargain. Let’s see if the Sooners can too…. and make this year’s Bedlam clash a meaningful one.
I’ve been thinking most of this season that OU’s late season loss would be this weekend in Lubbock. The Sooners have stunk on the road and no way they could keep up with the Tech offensive juggernaut.
CFN Preview: Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech
Posted in Big 12, OSU on November 14th, 2009 by BSN
Game of the week in the Big 12: Texas Tech @ Oklahoma State 7:00 CST, Saturday, November 14, ABC Why to watch: Can Oklahoma State be impressive enough to get into the BCS? Still in the hunt for the Big 12 South, needing to beat Texas Tech this week and Colorado and Oklahoma to close, while hoping for a total meltdown from Texas, the Cowboys have to keep pressing and hope for the best. More realistically, it’s all about style points now as a 10-2 OSU team could potentially get an at-large BCS bid if it looks great in high profile games against the Sooners and the Red Raiders. For Texas Tech, it’s all about closing strong after getting two weeks off to rest up for an interesting finishing kick with Oklahoma coming up next week before closing out at Baylor. For a team in such turmoil and with all the rebuilding needing to be done, finishing strong and getting at least eight wins this regular season would be a nice bridge to next year.
Texas Tech Coach Mike Leach: A self-proclaimed piratetologist
Posted in Big 12, OSU on November 13th, 2009 by BSN
Quick read of the ups and downs for the 2009 Texas Tech Red Raider football team, peppered with multiple references to Mike Leach’s obsession with “pirates”: A self-proclaimed piratetologist, Leach has revisited his sword analogy this season, reminding his Red Raiders: “None of that droopy stuff,” he said. Droopy, though, is how this season in Lubbock compares to last. Texas Tech was undefeated through 10 games this time last year, ranked No. 2 in the country and basking in back-to-back wins over top-10 opponents. On Saturday the unranked Red Raiders take three losses into No. 17 Oklahoma State.
What to watch this weekend in College Football

It’s put up or shut up time this week in college football. We’ve had a plenty of surprises (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and U.S.C.) and we’re starting to think we know what’s what. This week is a chance for many teams to earn their rankings and show that they belong with the nation’s elite. Just ask Mississippi. It was the fourth top-five team to lose to an unranked opponent this season. Read more »
